Nate Engbrecht serves as the Indiana State Herpetologist at the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Fish and Wildlife, where he leads the amphibian and reptile program. With a Master of Science in Biology from Indiana State University, Nate's research has largely focused on the conservation and biogeography of imperiled species, including crawfish frogs and hellbenders. Over the past twenty years, he has contributed to various herpetological surveys and habitat restoration efforts across the Midwest. Nate has frequently presented at the Hoosier Herp Society, sharing critical updates on Indiana's herpetofauna, such as the northward movement of green tree frogs and new findings on juvenile hellbenders.
