Dear Hoosier Herp Enthusiasts,
Get ready for an extraordinary night under the stars with the Hoosier Herp Society this Friday! We're thrilled to invite you to a unique wildlife experience – the Salamander Migration in Brown County. This is your chance to witness the incredible journey of salamanders and other fascinating creatures up close.
Event Details:
- Date: Friday, March 8th
- Time: 8:00 PM
- Meeting Point: Hesitation Point Parking Lot, Brown County State Park (GPS: 39°10'09.8"N 86°14'13.4"W)
What to Expect:
Join us for a mesmerizing night observing Jefferson salamanders, spotted salamanders, eastern newts, spring peepers, wood frogs, and an array of cool macro invertebrates in their natural habitat. This event is not only a chance to see these amazing creatures up close but also an excellent opportunity for photography and learning more about their ecosystem.
Preparation:
Please come prepared with headlamps and boots for the adventure. We will embark on a short hike from the parking lot to a vernal pool under the guidance of our HHS President, Jim Horton, where the magic of the migration unfolds.
