Western Slender Glass Lizard
Ophisaurus attenuatus
Description
A legless lizard that looks like a stiff, brittle snake, with a groove down each side and a tail that snaps off when grabbed. Unlike a snake, it blinks and has ear openings.

Habitat
A species of open, grasslands, of sand and much prairie. Also found in open woodlands.
Reproduction
Courtship and mating occurs in spring. This species is oviparous and 4 to 6 eggs are guarded by the female during incubation.
