Description
A stout, coral-red-to-orange salamander scattered with irregular black spots and bright yellow eyes. Tied to cold springs and streams in southern Indiana.

Diet
Earthworms and other invertebrates.
Habitat
Forested hills with seepages, springs, and small muddy creeks. Prefers cool, small spring-fed creeks.
Reproduction
Mating occurs from spring through fall. Females lay eggs in small spring or streams attached to submerged rocks. The aquatic larval stage may last two to three years.
