Description
A glossy black woodland salamander flecked with silvery-white spots, named for the sticky secretion it exudes when handled. A fully terrestrial, lungless species.

Blue-spotted salamander.
Diet
Earthworms and other invertebrates.
Habitat
Inhabits hilly, rocky woodland areas and ravines. An agile burrower finding refuge in rotted logs and leaf litter.
Reproduction
Breeding takes place in fall and female lays eggs in spring. Eggs are laid on land in a rotting log. Young will emerge as tiny adults (there is no larval stage).
