Description
Snake like in appearance. This lizard is legless. It has external ear openings, and movable eyelids. These lizards don’t have the ventral scales as seen in snakes. Head is long and narrow to a point. Tail is long, comprising of more than half of the body. Color is bronze, tan or olive with dark or black narrow stripes along the side of the body. Dark and light mottling or speckling on the side of the head.

Habitat
A species of open, grasslands, of sand and much prairie. Also found in open woodlands.
Reproduction
Courtship and mating occurs in spring. This species is oviparous and 4 to 6 eggs are guarded by the female during incubation.
